Scheduling Your Virtual Consultation With Dr. John Burns
Virtual consultations are a convenient way of visiting with Dr. Burns about your dream procedure. Virtual consults generally take about 30 minutes of your time. During your online consult, Dr. Burns will review your photos, your desires, and prepare a surgical plan for you. Following your time with Dr. Burns, our office manager Laura Betancourt will email you a surgical proposal with available surgery dates that align with your timeline.

Love Field is the birthplace, corporate headquarters, and a major operating base of Southwest Airlines. Love Field is located approximately 25 minutes from our practice.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is the primary international airport serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and the North Texas region, in the U.S. state of Texas.
It is the largest hub for American Airlines, which is headquartered near the airport. DFW International is located approximately 35 minutes from our practice.

Reserving Your Post-Op Overnight Stay At Our Cloister
The Cloister at Park Lane, a luxury post-operative recovery center, is located adjacent to Dallas Day Surgery. Cloister features an on-site concierge, room service, internet access and a television. In addition to a hospital bed, all rooms have an additional queen-sized bed for family members or friends. The Cloister provides a convenient, tranquil, and comfortable atmosphere for post-operative recovery and is ideal for out of town patients.
Consider Cloister If:
- Your having a facelift or mommy makeover
- You have a unique medical condition requiring a little more assistance.
- You'd like the added peace of mind staying overnight on location with Dr. Burns' office and the Dallas Day Surgery Centre.
Need To Knows
- Patients typically stay 24 hours and are discharged the next day after seeing Dr. Burns.
- MUST have a friend or family member or hired nurse to stay with them overnight. If you are unable to have a friend, Cosmetic Companions (below) can assist you.

Preparing For Surgery with Dr. John Burns
All patients of Dr. John Burns Plastic Surgery are required to have bloodwork prior to surgery. When necessary, and EKG and Medical Clearance may also be requested to clear a patient for surgery at our surgery center. Additional medical requests and labs are based on your unique medical history and are required by Dr. Burns to ensure your safety during and after your elective cosmetic procedures.
Our team will happily coordinate with your primary care physician or additional medical specialists PRIOR to your in-office pre-operative appointment with Dr. Burns and our clinic nurse. Please get in touch with us via email by clicking the link below.
Ordering Garments & Post-Surgical Supplies
Our clinic nurse has curated an Amazon Storefront with helpful items you can purchase before your surgery.
If you are having a procedure that requires post-surgical compression or support, you will awake from your procedure in the appropriate garment. Our team recommends you purchase an additional set of garments to alternate on laundry days.

Filling Your Prescriptions
Prescriptions for after surgery (antibiotics and pain management) can be called into your local pharmacy for pick up BEFORE travelling to Dallas for surgery.
Our team is also happy to phone them in to a local Dallas Pharmacy for pick up before your pre-op appointment with Dr. Burns.

Recovery & Follow Up Visits
In most cases, we require you to stay local for 1-3 days (depending on the type of procedure/s) after your surgery. Dr. Burns and his nursing team will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and clear you to drive or fly home.
Your follow up visits are included in your surgical investment. Our team frequently performs virtual and phone follow up appointments at the following cadence:
-1 week after surgery
-1 month after surgery
-3 months after surgery
-6 months after surgery
-1 year post-op
Your post-surgery photos are taken at the 3 month follow up and thereafter. That said, we will happily make accomodations for you anytime *after the 3-month mark when you return to Dallas.
