Tuberous or constricted breasts are characterized by enlarged areola with a puffy appearance, wider spacing between the breasts, decreased breast volume with narrow base, and decreased distance between the nipple and breast fold.  Between 1 and 5% of breast augmentation patients have a tuberous breast deformity which can range from mild to severe.  Tuberous breast deformity can be dramatically improved with breast augmentation.
