For many reasons, women may want to augment their breast without using an implant. Over the  past several years, fat transfer has become a very popular and reliable method of increasing breast size, shape, and symmetry.

This procedure uses liposuction to remove fat from areas where is not not wanted such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. This fat is specially processed, purified, washed with antibiotics to remove impurities, and then carefully reinjected into the breasts to provide shape, volume, symmetry and cleavage. The newly placed fat incorporates itself into the breast where it reestablishes its blood supply and becomes permanent.

Fat grafting requires both skill and experience with the technique. Published graft retention rates ranges from 50 - 90% fat graft survival. This largely depends on the surgeons skill and experience.  As part of the procedure, Dr. Burns uses a specially designed fat graft system that captures the fat, keeping it from being exposed to air,  increasing survival. The fat is immediately placed into the breasts,  limiting the amount of time spent outside of your body. Studies support that quickly transplanting the fat will increase graft survival.
