Before any breast surgery it is important to consider your breast health as it relates to breast cancer and breast cancer screening.  Dr. Burns recommends screening guidelines based upon careful and considered scientific research.  Breast surgery such as a breast augmentation, fat transfer, breast lift, or breast reduction will alter your breast anatomy to some extent by introducing surgical scar or foreign body (implant).  This can interfere with routine mammography and breast cancer screening.  For this reason, when appropriate, Dr. Burns may request a pre surgical mammogram as a screening tool and to establish your breast anatomy before your breast procedure.
