Having performed thousands of breast augmentations in his 20 year career, Dr. Burns is pleased to be featured in the February 2023 issue of D Magazine as The Face of Breast Augmentation.

Dr. John L. Burns Jr. MD is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and President of the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, one of the largest plastic surgery group practices in the United States. Dr. Burns is also the Medical Director for the EpiCentre Skin Care and Laser Center, a world renowned medical spa. Dr. Burns dedicates his practice to aesthetic or cosmetic plastic surgery.

Dr. Burns was raised in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Burns graduated summa cum laude from the Research Honors Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). As one of the top students, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society. He stayed at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he completed a residency in Plastic Surgery.

In addition, he completed training in micro-vascular surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and cosmetic surgery in Miami, Florida. Following his plastic surgery training, Dr. Burns became the first plastic surgeon in the United States to complete a fellowship in laser surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Burns maintains an active interest in academic plastic surgery as a Clinical Instructor of Plastic Surgery at UTSWMC Department of Plastic Surgery and through the Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute.

Dr. Burns is nationally known for his expertise in Laser Surgery, Cosmetic Breast Surgery, and facial rejuvenation, including the use of neuromodulators and soft tissue fillers. As President of Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr. Burns is interested in the advancement of cooperation between industry and private practice with the goal of improving the safety of efficacy of relevant devices, drugs, and procedures.
