Botox for Excessive Sweating/Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is abnormal sweating not associated with heat or exercise.  This is generally associated with one or more bilateral body parts such as the armpit/axilla, hands, feet, scalp, or groin areas.

About 1.5% of the US population suffers from some form of hyperhidrosis.  This condition can be emotionally crippling.

Hyperhidrosis

  • Sweating disrupts your daily routine
  • Sweating causes emotional distress or social withdrawal
  • You suddenly begin to sweat more than usual
  • You experience night sweats for no apparent reason

Hyperhidrosis can be effectively treated with Botox which can suppress the sweat glands responsible for sweating.  The simple office treatment focuses on precise injections of botox spread out over the involved areas.  Following treatment there is no downtime or disruption of your daily routine. Initially a dose of 25 units is used to provide sweat relief for a period of up to 6 months.  In more severe cases more Botox units may be required. With semi-annual treatments this condition can be effectively managed.
